Two fees
| Fee | Amount | When |
|---|---|---|
| Licence application | £138, not refundable | When you apply, before the Knowledge |
| Grant of licence | £205 | When TfL grants the licence |
Those are the licence fees only. The Knowledge has fees of its own, for the written exam and the appearances; see what the Knowledge costs for the whole bill.
Refunds of the grant fee
If a licence ends early because the driver is no longer fit, surrenders it or dies, TfL refunds the grant fee for each whole month left. It does not when a licence is revoked for the driver's conduct.
